Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website. This statement applies to geoatrium.com and describes how far we achieve this today and where limits remain. The apps Map Service and Community Map have their own statements.
Compliance status
According to our self-assessment, this website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. An audit by an external body has not yet taken place.
What we have implemented
- All pages can be operated with the keyboard, with a visible focus and a skip link to the content.
- Text colours are designed for a contrast of at least 4.5:1, in light and dark mode.
- Headings, lists, tables and form fields are marked up semantically; every form field has a label, and errors are explained in text.
- Images carry alternative texts; screenshots of the apps are described, decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- The system setting “reduce motion” switches off the video, the fade-ins and the scrolling band of language names.
- Font sizes adapt to the screen width; the page can be enlarged to 400 % without losing content.
- No time limits, no flashing content, no cookies.
Known limitations
- The screenshots of the apps show map extracts; their content is summarised in the alternative text, not reproduced in full.
- German is the authoritative version. 25 of the 28 language versions were translated with AI and have not been checked by native speakers; we welcome reports of errors.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 24 October 2026. It is based on a self-assessment: automated testing with axe-core (WCAG 2.1 A and AA) in light and dark mode, a keyboard test and a test with screen magnification.
